Vulcan
Origin: Roman Mythology
Japanese: ヴァルカン
Appears In: Star Trader, Zwei, Sen no Kiseki I-II

Origin

Vulcan is the English rendering of Vulcanus, the Roman god of fire, the forge and metalworking. He is the Roman counterpart to the Greek Hephaestus and is of Etruscan origin. The Romans believed the name was related to fulmen and other words related to lightning, and from there to fire.

Appearances

  • The Vulcan and Twin Vulcan (ツイン・バルカン) are weapons that can be equipped on the Fenrir's Mount A in Star Trader.
  • In Zwei, Vulcan is one of the Salamanders who live in Kenopi Volcano and is part of a trading quest.
  • In the first two Sen no Kiseki games, Vulcan (or 'Comrade V') is a leader of the Imperial Liberation Front who wields a massive rotary cannon.
  • Also in the first two Sen no Kiseki games, the Vulcan Rain is an offensive Fire-elemental Art.

Trivia

  • The usage of Vulcan to refer to rotary cannons comes from the real-world M61 'Vulcan' cannon, which became a generic word in popular usage.
