Origin

Susanoo is a Japanese storm god born from Izanagi. While banished from heaven for offending his sister Amaterasu and killing one of her attendants, he encountered a couple menaced by the serpent Yamata no Orochi. Using a cunning trick he slew the monster and while cutting it apart he discovered a wonderous sword in its tail which he later presented to Amaterasu as a gift. He then married the last surviving daughter of the couple.
