Japanese: | バレシア |
---|---|
Appears In: | Ys VI (mentioned) |
Origin
Based on Barcelona, the city in northeast Spain. Its name dates back to the ancient Iberian name, which was adopted by later Greek and Latin sources. The city in Ys is located in the equivalent region to its real-world counterpart.
Appearances
- Barecia is mentioned in the backstory to Ys VI as the place where Adol and Dogi meet and where Adol hears the rumor that leads him to Ediz.
Trivia
- The maps accompanying Memories of Celceta and Ys IX identify Barecia instead as Barencia, though the name is written in romaji and has not yet been used in katakana. This name is presumably derived from Valencia, a city also on the eastern coast of modern Spain though it does not correspond to the location given for Barecia.
