Origin
An abyss is a very deep or empty space or in modern usage a figurative term for Hell or similar, derived ultimately from the Ancient Greek word Abyssos, meaning 'Bottomless' or 'Unfathomable'.
Appearances
- In Brandish VT/4, an Abyss is a type of enemy appearing as a completely black and vaguely human-shaped spirit.
- The Abyss Worm (アビスワーム) is a recurring enemy in the Kiseki series, being monsters emerging from below the earth when disturbed. They appear in Sora no Kiseki SC, Ao no Kiseki, all the Sen no Kiseki games other then the first and Hajimari no Kiseki.
- Abyss Fall (アビス・フォール) is a Time-elemental offensive Art first appearing in Sora no Kiseki SC, which 'summons an emissary from the otherworld'.
- The optional dungeon in the final Chapter of Sora no Kiseki The 3rd is named with the Japanese word Shinen (深淵) with a romaji translation confirming that it is meant to be read as 'The Abyss'.
