Grimwald Night
Origin: | Old English |
---|---|
Japanese: | グリムワルドの夜 |
Appears In: | Ys IX |
Origin
Grimwald is a portmanteau of two words in Old English (with Proto-Germanic roots and various Germanic cognates such as Grimm and Walten) which mean 'Terrible Power'.
Appearances
- The Grimwald Night is the central plot element of Ys IX, in which grotesque monsters from another realm appear in the city of Balduq and must be kept in check by the Monstrum. The term was rather cleverly rendered Grimwald Nox by NISA.
- The songs HELLO GRIMWALD and DREAMING IN THE GRIMWALD are part of the soundtrack to the same game, being the title motif and the theme of the early Grimwald Night battles respectively.
