Rapunzel
Origin: German Fairy Tales
Japanese: ラプンツェル
Appears In: Ys IX

Origin

Rapunzel is a fairy tale recorded by the Brothers Grimm, based on an earlier Italian story which had been translated first into French and then German. The titular character's name comes from the bellflower Campanula rapunculus which plays a role in the story. Rapunzel's most famous characteristic is her incredibly long golden hair.

Appearances

  • Gleaming Blade Rapunzel (煌刃ラプンツェル) is Anemona's strongest weapon in Ys IX. Its description references the fairy tale origin of its name where it shines with a dream-like light and the shining trail left by the blade 'weaves a story'.
