Origin
Anima is Latin for 'Soul' and an Ergastulum was a Roman prison, with the term usually implying a prison for dangerous or disobedient slaves. The name thus has the combined meaning of, roughly, 'Prison of Souls'.
Ergastulum itself has Greek roots in the word Ergasterion, meaning 'Workshop'.
