Argleon
Origin: Shiroki Majo, Irish
Japanese: 銀の騎神アルグレオン
Appears In: Sen no Kiseki II-IV

Origin

Argleon possibly comes from a portmanteau of the Irish words Airgid Leon, meaning 'Silver Lion'. An alternate possibility is the Spanish and Italian words Argento and Leon with the same meaning.

In-universe, Argleon's name is explicitly related to Argles the Earth Beast, who blessed its construction. Argles in turn is a direct reference to a holy beast from Shiroki Majo.

Appearances

  • Argleon the Silver Knight is first mentioned in Sen no Kiseki II, when Celine says that there used to be a Divine Knight sleeping within Lohengrin Castle but it vanished long ago. It first appears onscreen in Sen no Kiseki III operated by Arianrhod.

Trivia

  • Argleon's name being derived from Airgid Leon seems more likely than not when you consider that its Awakener is also named for an Irish goddess and her name also contains the same root word for 'Silver'.
