Origin
In Norse mythology Fafnir was the son of Hreidmar and the brother of Regin. When their father received Andvari's cursed ring, Fafnir killed him, drove his brother away and then transformed himself into a dragon to guard his treasure. He was eventually killed by Sigurd.
