Hades
Origin: Ancient Greek
Source Name: Ἁιδης
Japanese: ハーデス
Appears In: Brandish 2, Sen no Kiseki II, Ys IX

Origin

Hades is the Latin rendering of the Greek Haides, the Olympian god of the underworld.

Appearances

  • The King of Bundevia in Brandish 2 is named Badorrer Hades (バドラー=ハデス).
  • In Sen no Kiseki II, the Hades Pillar (ハーデスピラー) is an enemy encountered in the Infernal Castle.
  • The Hades Mask (ハーデスマスク) is an accessory in Ys IX whose description mentions that it symbolizes death.

Trivia

  • Though widely depicted as evil in modern media, in the original myths Hades was one of the least capricious of the generally jerkass Olympians and only messed around with mortals who tried to pull one over on him first. He was however dreaded because he represented the inevitability of death.
