Origin
Mousquetaire is the French word for Musketeer, and by shorthand to the military companies outfitted with muskets which served in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Fictional accounts of their exploits were immortalized in print by Alexandre Dumas' novel The Three Musketeers/Les Trois Mousquetaires.
