Origin
Gamgee is a real surname and a type of surgical tissue called Gamgee Tissue was named after its inventor, an English doctor. However, it's much better known as the surname of the Gamgee family and its most prominent member Samwise 'Sam' Gamgee from J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.
