Origin
This desert that serves as a barrier to travel in northern Afroca is derived from the real-world Sahara Desert. The name comes from an Arabic word that means, well, 'The Desert'.

- The PC-88 manual for Ys I and the Ys Global Guide Book offer a different spelling of the Shala Desert, using (スハラ砂漠) instead.
