Varlequin
Japanese: ヴァルルカン
Appears In: Ys IX

Origin

A play on Arlequin, the French rendering of the Italian archetypal character Arlecchino. The name also sounds like Varlet, an archaic English word for a scoundrel, based on an Old French word for 'Servant'.

Appearances

  • Varlequin is a Larva that appears in Ys IX and is a variation of the Pieretta.

Trivia

  • The Japanese rendering of Arlequin is アルルカン, making the etymological relationship even clearer.
