Origin

Based on the Latin Gallia, used to refer to the region roughly equivalent to the modern nation of France.

Appearances

  • Gllia (グリア) appears in the backstory of Ys I as the town of Promarock which Adol departed from is located there. It appears directly in Ys IV: Mask of the Sun. Gllia is the setting for the upcoming Ys IX.

Trivia

  • The English word Gaul is used to refer to the same historic region but it is actually unrelated to the Latin, instead being derived from the French word Gaule, which comes from Old Frankish.
