Origin
The term Ironblood or Ironblooded comes from German and specifically is a reference to the famous speech by Otto von Bismarck known as the 'Blood and Iron' speech (Blud und Eisen) for a phrase he used when describing Prussia's need for military might as well as diplomacy.
Appearances
- Gilliath Osborne from the Kiseki Series is referred to in-universe as the Ironblooded Chancellor (鉄血宰相) and occupies a similar role in Erebonia to that filled by Bismarck in the real world. His nickname is a reference to one Bismarck was eventually given, the Iron Chancellor (Eiserne Kanzler in German). Osborne's Japanese title is in fact how that language renders Bismarck's nickname. Osborne has been a factor in the entire Kiseki series, though the title didn't appear until the second game. Osborne's localized title is Chancellor of Blood and Iron.
- Also in the Kiseki Series, Osborne's loyal followers are the Iron Breed (
鉄血の子供たち , literally 'The Ironblooded Children') and are first mentioned in Sora no Kiseki The 3rd. Their localized title is The Ironbloods. In Sen no Kiseki IV, the group is reorganized as the Ironblooded Knights (鉄血の騎士).
