In Greek mythology, Ixion was the king of the Lapiths who was reckoned the first man to be guilty of kinslaying after he murdered his father-in-law. When shunned by mortals, Zeus took pity on ixion and took him to Olympus where he continued to act horribly until Zeus smote him with a lightning bolt.

Volt meanwhile is the standard scientific unit measuring electric potential and was named for the pioneering Italian scientist Alessandro Volta.
