Origin
In Roman mythology, the Lemures were the spirits of the restless dead; Ovid wrote of them as vengeful spirits who hadn't been given proper funerary rites. The name appears to have a Proto Indo-European root which is also the source for the Greek monster Lamia.
Appearances
- NISA uses Lemures in Ys IX to refer to what were called the Larva in Japanese. The two words are cognates in Latin though Lemures is more specific and also appears more commonly.
