Origin

Taken from the Tigris River, which flows from modern Turkey through to Iraq and together with the Euphrates River formed the heartland of the ancient region of Mesopotamia. The modern name is Greek by way of Persian and Elamite. The original Sumerian name meant 'the swift river'.

Trivia

• One of Adol's yet to be revealed adventures concerns his journey into 'Orietta beyond the Tigres', implying that at some point Adol will visit and cross the river to see what lies beyond.
