Sasapanda
Origin: Japanese
Source Name:
Japanese: ササパンダー
Appears In: Sora no Kiseki SC, Zero & Ao no Kiseki, Sen no Kiseki I-IV

Origin

Sasapanda is a portmanteau of the Japanese words for Broad-leaf Bamboo grass (Sasa being the genus name) and the Panda bear. The name Panda used in English and Japan is adapted from French but that name is itself of uncertain derivation. The most likely candidate is the Nepali name Nigalya Ponya, meaning 'Bamboo Eater' which was given to the Red Panda; Both that species and the Giant Panda almost exclusively eat bamboo.

Appearances

  • The Sasapanda is a recurring enemy in the Kiseki Series. It appears in Sora no Kiseki SC, in Zero and Ao no Kiseki as a hidden enemy that randomly appears in certain encounters and in all four Sen no Kiseki games.

Trivia

  • There is a variant of the Sasapanda called the Cocopanda (ココパンダー) which appears in the Sen no Kiseki games, whose name refers to the coconut palm.
