Origin

A play on Tarantula, a group of large and often hairy spiders. The first recognized species of tarantula was Lycosa tarantula, whose name came from the Italian town of Taranto, before being broadly applied to a number of similar-looking but not necessarily related species of spider.

• The Daranzeal is a spider monster appearing in the Secret Path and Blockaded Road in Ys IX.
