Origin
Possibly inspired by the Ile Tristan, a small island off the coast of Brittany associated with the legend of Ys, as well as being named for the hero Tristan, whose legend arose in the same region. In Ys, Esterior is the region left behind after the city of Ys ascended into the sky.
Appearances
- Esterior is the setting of Ys I and reappears at the end of Ys II when the city of Ys returns to earth.
- Esterior is revisted in The Mask of the Sun and The Dawn of Ys, with different areas being open in each game.
