From Falcom Glossary
Jump to navigation Jump to search

For ease of searching, page names will be based on localizations whenever possible. Unless they're so obviously bad <stares at Bandai> that there's no purpose in using them. Games are referred to with their Japanese names for consistency, see here for details. There are also two special Categories that deserve mention: Quasi-Canonical and Non-Canonical.

Pages categorized as Quasi-Canonical are those incorporating elements that were once considered canonical but no longer are (like Ys IV: The Mask of the Sun) or which have or had input from Falcom, such as Akatsuki no Kiseki. It also includes material that is not explicitly non-canonical such as officially licensed Ys sidestories, but which are subject to change should future games contradict it.

Pages categorized as Non-Canonical are those that involve material which as never been considered canonical by Falcom, generally involving third-party ports and remakes of Falcom games (such as Taito's PS2 remakes of Ys III-V) or licensed games produced entirely by a third party, like Ys Strategy. These are included for completeness and interest but have either been rendered moot by Falcom or could be rendered moot at any time.
