Origin
The islands take their name from the region of the Ancient Near East corresponding to modern Israel, Lebanon and parts of Jordan and Syria. The name is the Latin rendering of a name dating back to the Phoenecians, by way of Hebrew and Greek. In terms of geography, the Canaan Islands are located roughly where the Azores are in the real world.
