Duarl Sea
Japanese: | ドゥアール海 |
---|---|
Appears In: | Ys I, Ys IV |
Origin
The Duarl Sea is named after the Baie de Douarnenez, where the legendary city of Ys was supposed to be located in the real world.
Appearances
- Adol crosses the Duarl Sea in the backstory of Ys I in order to reach Esterior and investigate its mysteries.
- In both The Mask of the Sun and The Dawn of Ys (and the manga adaptation based mainly on the former), Adol crosses the Duarl Sea again in order to go from Esterior to Celceta and back again. In the former game a message in a bottle received from Leeza is what prompts him to undertake the journey while in the latter it's a request from Sara Tovah.
Trivia
- In The Dawn of Ys, the Duarl Sea is implied to be the name of the entire equivalent to the Atlantic Ocean, with the homeland of the Eldeen being located on an island within it. Later canonical games would establish this as the Atlas Ocean, with the Duarl Sea being a purely regional body of water.
