Origin

Iris is Ancient Greek for 'Rainbow' and was personified as a goddess who served as a messenger for the Olympians. Iris is also a genus of flowers named for the same; in the 'language of flowers' the Iris means 'Good News' or 'Hope'.

Appearances

  • Spirit Shield Iris (霊盾イーリス) is a shield in Akai Shizuku.
  • Iris Tower (イリスの塔) is a location in Ys IV: The Mask of the Sun, serving as the de facto final dungeon.
  • In Celceta no Jukai, Iris, known as the World of Records (記録世界イリス) is a realm within the Akashic Records which serves as a means of interfacing with them, retroactively fitting the name of the world with its namesake serving as a link between the mortal and divine realms. As in Ys IV, Iris is functionally the game's final dungeon.
  • Bright Bow Iris (光弓イリス) is Alisa Reinford's Zemurian Stone weapon in Sen no Kiseki II. A second version of the weapon called Spirit Bow Iris (霊弓イリス) appears in Hajimari no Kiseki as her first Zemurian Stone weapon.
  • Iris is a supporting character in Ys IX, rescued from Balduq by the Monstrum. Her real identity is that of Princess Eleanor.
