Origin
Derived from the Loire, the longest river in France. The name is taken from Liger, the Latin transcription of the native Gaulish name, derived from the word Liga ('Silt' or 'Sediment').

Trivia
- While the real-world Loire does not flow through Paris, the Loare in Ys does flow through its equivalent city Balduq.
