Origin
Although the geography doesn't quite match (Balduq being located on a peninsula that doesn't exist on Earth) the city appears to have been inspired by the Bastille in Paris. Both structures were originally designed as fortresses and were later repurposed into prisons

- The journal that Adol wrote regarding his travels in this region bears the name 'The Prison of Balduq'.
