Kokonoe
Origin: Japanese
Japanese: 九重
Appears In: Tokyo Xanadu, Sen no Kiseki III-IV

Origin

Kokonoe is Japanese for 'Ninefold' and has been used to refer to the Imperial Court of Japan.

Appearances

  • In Tokyo Xanadu, Kokonoe Towa (九重永遠) is Kou's cousin and teacher and a major character. She's an alternate universe counterpart to Towa Herschel and her given name is written with the kanji rendition of the Sen no Kiseki character's name.
  • In Sen no Kiseki III and IV, Towa Herschel's Brave Order is Kokonoe Formation (九重陣), which is a direct reference to her Tokyo Xanadu incarnation who was herself a reference to Kiseki's Towa. The Ouroboros-like nature of this reference may be taken as proof that Towa is the Grandmaster. The Order was localized by NISA as High Heavens.
